The Mount Mercy Academy school community came together last night to honor the Class of 2024 at their Baccalaureate Mass. Family and friends gathered with our graduates to celebrate mass together and recognize their outstanding achievements. Mass was celebrated by Father Jim Ciupek, Deacon Tim Maloney and Seminarian CJ Wild. Senior Katie Regan welcomed everyone and readings were proclaimed by seniors Vayana Stoyanova, Na (Linda) Li, Madisyn Hoffman and Avery Walker. The beautiful music throughout the mass was thanks to our Music Program Director, Mr. DaMar Dowell and members of the Mount Mercy Sparks. A reflection was given by Mercy senior Caroline Tucker. Caroline, the daughter of Mercy alumna Anne Marie Tucker ‘86, is ranked the third highest in her class, right behind the salutatorian.
After mass, awards and recognitions were given out for each student. Awards included cords to be worn at graduation for the seniors who successfully completed the requirements of each Academy, including The Science and Healthcare Academy, The Visual Arts Academy, the Women in Social Sciences Academy, The Leadership Academy and The Business and Finance Academy. Seniors received awards for outstanding achievement in each subject area as well as participation in community service, as Student Ambassadors and various clubs.
Mount Mercy Academy would like to thank the family of alumna Karen Sacco Blake ‘76. Karen passed away in 2021 and her family honors her memory by awarding a scholarship for college to a graduating Mercy senior. Karen loved her years at Mount Mercy and the recipient of this award must be generous, kind and selfless with exemplary character – all qualities Karen demonstrated during her time at Mercy. This year’s recipient is Amyiah Wheeler, daughter of Mercy alum, Kathleen Yung ‘92. Congratulations Amyiah!
The 2024 Baccalaureate Mass was a beautiful celebration of our seniors and their accomplishments. Congratulations ladies!
