Giving Tuesday!

Hello Supporters of Mount Mercy,

The tradition began with Catherine McAuley who was born in

Dublin, Ireland, in 1778. In 1824 she used her inheritance from

an Irish couple to build a large House of Mercy on Baggot street

where she would work to educate underprivileged girls. To give

these efforts greater stability, Catherine and her co-workers

founded a new religious congregation where they professed their

vows as the first Sisters of Mercy. It is our calling and obligation

to continue this legacy today.

Although 200 years later, the struggles for families to provide a

quality education remains the same. Many wish to send their

daughters to a Catholic institution but simply do not have the

resources or means to support the effort. With rising tuition, the

amount is still not equivalent to what is necessary to educate

a student in this ever changing world. With increased costs in

technology and providing the highest quality of educational

materials to provide a futuristic approach to learning, many

families are in dire financial constraints and therefore do not

consider private education as an option.

However, in an effort to continue the mission of Catherine

McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy to provide opportunities

for families in need, Mount Mercy Academy relies on outside

sources to help support these efforts. Reaching out to

community partners, local businesses, securing sponsorships and

donations through alumni and beyond, it is imperative that these

efforts continue to sustain the very foundation in which Mercy

was built.

It is with sincere gratitude that the people like you help to

continue to support these efforts. Mercy girls for centuries

have been giving back to the community through service and leadership,

therefore we are asking for your support to be part of this circle of Mercy.

Donations to the Annual Fund also enable us to remain

competitive with other private schools and expand our

“Academies within the Academy” which are unique to a Mount

Mercy education. Additionally, we can leverage contributions from

the Annual Fund to secure outside funding from grants. The 2024-

2025 Annual Fund Campaign wraps up on June 30, 2025.

"The past four years at Mercy have been a time of learning,

growing, and striving for excellence in our classrooms,

communities, and homes. This school has greatly impacted my

studies, with unceasing motivation and support, rigorous courses,

and activities to fulfill and grow my interests. I am so grateful to

everyone who has helped to make an education like this possible

and available to all of the girls who are fortunate enough to attend

this Academy. I plan to take the skills I have learned at Mercy and

develop them in college and my career. Thank you for everything

you do in assisting with our school."
