Amazing Project Based Learning experience!
Last week, members of our Science and Healthcare Academy had an incredible opportunity to spend the day at Roswell. The girls were able to see the ATLAS Department Simulation Lab as well as the Nursing Professional Department and the Clinical Laboratory.
Students started the day in the ATLAS lab to practice their laparoscopic skills and then enjoyed a presentation about the different departments at Roswell and numerous career paths. How exciting for students looking ahead to college and beyond!
That was followed by students interacting with the simulator mannequin, who does everything from coughing to child birth!
The students learned how to take a blood pressure and then toured the blood bank, microbiology and pathology departments. They learned how important these careers are as their work often leads to a diagnosis.
What an amazing opportunity we had visiting Roswell, the leading hospital for cancer treatment and research. Huge THANK YOU to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center! Mount Mercy is proud to be able to offer these experiences to our students and we couldn’t do it without our community partners!
